Polyphenols and Gut Microbiota Cross-Talk: Prevention & Reversal of Conditions
"In fact, polyphenols can prevent or reverse the progression of disease processes through many distinct mechanism" (Koudoufio et al., 2020).
Koudoufio's team is not alone in their claim that polyphenols can be that impactful upon our health. Scientists from all over the world are studying polyphenols and their healing mechanisms.
As it turns out, polyphenols are very communicative in the body.
We have discussed crosstalk between organs, such as the gut and heart (Jahng et al., 2016), or the nervous system and various organs (Battaglini et al., 2024).
Crosstalk also takes place between polyphenols and organs, for example, the gut microbiota (Zeb et al., 2024). According to Zeb's group, it takes communications between polyphenols and the community of organisms in the gut (gut microbiota) to prevent cancer.
A synergetic relationship is formed between the molecules of polyphenols and the organisms of the gut to work toward health, performing many functions such as modulating signaling pathways and immune repose, as well as initiating epigenetic modifications
These two articles are excellent education tools.
Enjoy.
Yours as always,
Dohrea
