Together, let’s put an end to deteriorating health

Cranberries and prostate cancer

Dear Friends

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in the Western world.  It is also one of the leading causes of cancer death among men in the United States (CDC).

MMP-2 secretion is elevated in several types of human cancers and their elevated expression has been associated with poor prognosis (Neto, 2007).

Have Cranberries shown in research to offer any help?

We have seen in previous research studies that cranberries contain elements that are shown to be cancer fighting, such as ellagic acid.  Joseph (2002) also reported that cranberries contain another element that is shown to help in the fight against cancer, “one of the most potent cancer fighters—EGCG” (p. 50).

Deziel et al. sheds some positive light on cranberry’s anti-cancer potential: Proanthocyanidins from the American Cranberry (vaccinium macrocarpon) inhibit matrix metalloproteinase-2 and matrix metalloprotein-9 activity in human prostate cancer cells via alterations in multiple cellular signaling pathways. Journal of Cellular Biochemistry; 111(3):742-754 Oct 2010

For doctors and scientists: Their research suggested that in fact cranberry proanthocyanidins decreases MMP activity through the induction and/or inhibition of specific temporal MMP regulators, such as increasing the expression of TIMP-2, a known inhibitor of MMP activity; and by affecting the expression of MAP kinase, PI-3 kinase, NF-KappaB, and AP-1 pathway proteins.

For the rest of us: This means the process that cranberries initiate in the body has a great potential to prevent the development of cancerous cells.

The research team agreed that cranberry shows itself to be a strong candidate for further research as a novel anti-cancer agents.

The Last Quiz Answer:

The three amigos.  A band of brothers making their way through the thicket on the Serregetti plains of Africa—going for a hunt.  Female cheetahs typically have a litter of three cubs and live with them for around two years. Male cheetahs live alone or in small groups, these three are littermates.  Perhaps only 7,000 to 10,000 of these big cats remain, as the grasslands they favor are disappearing to human settlers.

The CDC has maintained the Thimerosal is safe and that there is “no relationship between Thimerosal containing vaccines and autism rates in children.”  A 2014 study by Hooker et al, entitled Methodological Issues and Evidence of Malfeasance in Research Purporting to Show Thimerosal in Vaccines is Safe, challenges the CDC position as a coverup.  Sayer Ji, the Founder of Green Med Info. brings this all to our attention in his June 16th posting entitled, Study Finds Evidence for CDC Cover-up of Link Between Autism and Mercury in Vaccines. The good new is that it is not too late to stop it.  The EPA is still seeking comments from the public before it makes its final decision.  But the window closes on June 30.  Click here to sign a petition against this poison’s use.  The Environmental Working Group’s goal is to get 50,000 signature.  They need just 18,000 more.  TAKE ACTION.
