A 2022 scientific review by Johari et al. brings attention to the phyto-chemicals (nutrients, in fact) of the pomegranate, and the effect these nutrients have on prostate cancer.
Pomegranate has powerful phytonutrients, such as punicalagin, ellagic acid, and gallic acid. These compounds are shown in research to actually inhibit and arrest the progression of prostate cancer (Johari et al., 2022) - and the scientists intent is to show the valuable effect in conjunction with existing treatments.
